Im surprised this has not already been mentioned but the possible burial site of one of the most famous Irish people abroad may have been possibly found down under. Ned Kelly was an Irish outlaw who at a very early age had to be go on the run because of trumpd up charges, he famous for being an outlaw. At his last shot out he created his own home made armour to prolong his inevitable death. In my eyes he died as a martyr, and is indeed one of Irelands most famous sons and highly recongnised as a National symbol down under.

Excuse the lack of knowledge, but wasn't he just an outlaw who was good at what he did?

Will not to me a chara, the police treated him and his family very badly, the police turnt one of his life long friends against him and Kelly's gang where forced to execute him, reportadly Ned Kelly was staunchly Irish Republican and the establishment which existed in Austrilia discriminated againt Roman Catholic immigrants. The establishment was predominatrly Protestant, there was real no way to make a living exempt a career as an outlaw.

His parents were from South Tipperary, his ould fella was arrested after young Ned stole a cow and killed it; the ould boy (also a rough b*stard) tanned the hide and was thus done as an accomplice. His parents split up and he lived with his mother who ran an illegal distillery, Ned then ended up going on the run with another Irish outlaw at the age of about 15 I think and then his story began.
He was a great character, but he wasn't a Republican martyr or anything.
I think his parents were Irish
Ah ok.

He was not a republican martyr is right but reportadly the money he robbed from the banks was to fund for a Republic in Australia, he was reported to have some document talking about a Republic when he was arrested.

:eusa_clap:yes! He faced into and fought British colonialism The Irish were deemed little better than the black man. Indigenous Australians have a great fondness for Ned Kelly & the Irish. For the resistance to cultural denigration and so forth.
