The Belfast cumannn of the 32 CSM this week unveiled a new mural on the international wall at the bottom of the Falls Road. The aim of the mural is to highlight the the ongoing plight of Irish republican prisoners being held in British and 26 county jails on trumped up IRA membership charges.

Saw it yesterday, looks well. The new palestinian one next to it is very nice aswell.

It does look good but it seems squashed in being a lot less wide than the rest of them.

Comrade Ryan

Think its due to the wall getting increasingly crowded.

The Palestinian one is acutally smaller than the last one too.

Seems there still a lot to fight for in this world.

The Nuggent one looks better for the reworking too, though it makes me sad seeing him more and more remember in death while so neglected in life.

Too true.

Good to see the Dark up there though.

But once again, those maligned in death are commemorated in death.

Although, the Dark one, was a personal tribute from the mural artist, no group was involved.

Well done to all involved in putting up the mural. The IRPWA need all the awareness and support they can get from republicans as we are facing a period of time when the forces on both sides of the border will be doing their upmost to put as many republicans in prison as they can.

Have to say it seemed a bit strange that a republican history museum put and advertisement sign up on your last mural.

Bit disrespectful.

Is that sign not still there? The only less appropriate thing on the wall was the advert for taxi tours pretending to be a political statement.

I asked what?, in order to give you a chance to explain your take on it.

Well given my reaction you should know i dont believe that it was done by the artist as a personal tribute.

I there anything to support this 'belief'?

Because I happen to know it was done as a personal tribute from the mural artist who was friendly with the Dark.

So unless you have anything to offer to this that is based on fact, hold your tongue.

Comrade,

I'm surprised at the personal tribute claim too but my understanding may be wrong. Are you sure?

Edit to add: Cross posting - you seem sure. Thanks.

Well ryan i also know the artist and i also know the ins and outs of the mural and your assumptions are a mile out.If you dont believe me contact the artist he will tell you.

You are quite simply wrong.

The artist involved was actually going to do the same thing that was done for Meehan and told the Dark jokingly very recently that he had a spot on the wall for him.

When the Dark passed the artist decided to do as he had joked about earlier.

Rather than do the same thing he did for Martin he took the opportunity to spruce the mural of 'Header' up as well.

That what actually happened.

BTW, if you know that I am wrong in asserting the mural artist did that as a personal tribute than why did you only state that you didn't 'believe' it was done as a personal tribute.

Surely if you know. you know, you don't believe.

But whatever, it was a personal tribute and there's no contradicting that reality.

We cross posted there. I edited the original once I read your subsequent reply to Ardonian but you replied to my unedited version.

Ah - all is forgiven.

You know, stuff is bad, but thankfully there are still people with some decency and thats what happened in relation to this mural.

No I didn't hit the post I buried the ball in the net.

You are off the mark, but do feel free to contact the artist.

I don't see why this isn't the palce to discuss something as straightforward and uncontentious as this though?

Maybe someone can enlighten me?

(But of course its interesting how a minute ago I was a mile out but now I'm hitting the post. How thick are these posts anyways?)

this is a personal discussion between 2 people, no one else knows about it so rather than hijack the thread with 'he said, she said' the rest of us would prefer if we could get on with the topic at hand.

The important thing here is that the POW issue, and the internment issue are being remembered as is the Dark. Good work to all involved.

Ryan,

I saw Danny painting on the wall a couple of weeks ago but didn't really pay attention to what he was actually painting and then when I went back by the Dark had been added, did he do that? I think the wall is looking good.
