The petrol bomb one has been gone for a while - too militant.

AFAIK it was not replaced with the above but with amore complicated design with starburst etc.

I'll try and find it.

Apparently it was voted on at the Ard Fheis in 2004 following developments in the peace process that a less militant logo (the greenstar one) should be adopted

So there for no ogra activists got a say in the matter?

Whoops sorry, it was actually changed at the OSF national congress

It was decided at one of the National Congresses before I got involved with OSF, however the lack of a militant logo does concern me but it was before my time.

I don't know, the references are pretty militant - the sunburst of na Fianna Éireann and the lark. Though they are probably both as inappropriate as the petrol bomb for the modern OSF.

The old petrol bomb logo would be totally inappropriate today.

God forbid that any part of PSF should display reminders of a radical past based on resistance.

I was still involved with Ógra, though no longer a member, when that one was introduced in 2002 or 2003. As I remember Ógra members around the country were asked for their designs for a new logo to replace the petrol bomb one, and there must not have been many submissions because we were told that it would be the new logo. There wasn't much consultation and it was never a popular logo with members, and was eventually replaced by the new one that's frankly too busy to be a good logo.

The new one is a bit too complex I think. Imagine trying to spraypaint it on a wall!

The star one was indeed crap and thankfully only lasted one full year.

of course if any PSF members see some OSF members graffiting walls with their logo, they should call the psni with all the nececary details.
