The Tí Chulainn Cultural Activity centre, An Mullach Bán, in the picturesque ring of Gullion was the setting for Campa Náisiúnta Óige ‘08.
The Centre is the jewel in the crown of South Armagh tourism and offers an insight into the rich cultural heritage of the region. The sloping hills of Slieve Gullion and meandering lakes between counties Armagh and Louth was an ideal setting for the 5th annual 3 day event.
From early Friday morning groups from throughout Ireland began arriving in south Armagh . By early evening a camp site was clearly evident to the rear of the Tí Chulainn centre.
Barry McColgan welcomed delegates from thoughtout Ireland and also a number of international delegates who travelled for the event. Those who had arrived on Friday evening were then given a tour of the Tí Chulainn centre and its striking surroundings.

Bhi Arthur Scargill ann! Cad a bhfuil sé ag deanamh anois?
Arthur Scargill was there. What is he up to these days?

Arthur is currently heading up the Socialist Labour Party in England. The party was originally set up by James Connolly in 1902, Scargill reformed it in 1996, after he left the Labour Party.
He was an extremely engaging and inspiring speaker.

What did the Young Unionists have to say?
I was wondering that too. I gave up before it got to Scargill assuming it was just going to continue with music and no substance.
YouTube is a grand medium but sometimes the politics can be missed as people try and make a pop-video and forget to add the actual politics.

There was no sign of the young unionists but the people dancing to the wolfetones were worth a grin

I bet you the young lad in the suit was the Unionist.
Personally I wouldn't give Unionists any kind of platform.

Must say the organisers appear to have done a great job and well done Ogra

Of course you wouldn't, do you not feel they are apart of Ireland? It is your attitude that causes them fear when they think of United Ireland, they deserve to live with what they feel is their culture just as much as we do ours.
Fair play to Ogra, shame on yous for slagging these young people, at least they are committed to their activism while others only whing about it.
I wouldn't mind a pineapple breezer.:icon_lol:

It all looks very earnest and worthwhile, but it is consistent in every photo or video I see of Ogra - no-one really seems to be smiling and having a good time.

no lemon up my nose, I just think it's a nonsense to be pontificating about how humourless our young comrades in Ogra are based on a few photies and vid clips.
it's also a nonsense as if you'd actually watched the video, a fair portion of it is a bunch of youngsters singing and dancing to a kak band of aul fellas, neither party looking the least bit "earnest". But they all seem to be having a good time.
but peonyrose knows best.

Very profound statement, that! It's because of new members like yourself that have discouraged me from more involvement on the forum as of late. You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about in most posts, with your psycho-babble and hijacking of every thread. You're posts are so generic that you could easily put the same posts on some benign website forum relating to the sexual habits of fish and they would have as much impact. There is nothing to offer whatsoever in the way of republican debate incorporated in your posts. They are, in my opinion, a waste of cyber space.
So revel in your new found hobby here, and continue to consider yourself the new resident expert on every subject. Prance around the board like the prima-donna you think you are! But I am tiring of you and your baseless knowledge, exhaustive prattle and condescending, patronizing ways that lacks the true passion and intuition of a subject very near and dear to my heart and soul! The very reason this website was developed, one that you have no comprehension of.
So I WILL go 'running and screaming' from here and each thread I find you on!
Cheers, Hildy :)

You're a teacher robert, you do the math. Hmmmmm, let's see, what is peonyrose's post count now? 1469? Well perhaps thats 1,469 reasons to qualify Cupla Focail's statement! You don't have to post on this forum, you just have to know how to read! He's very astute! :eusa_clap:
Welcome to the forum Cupla Focail!
And Deckie, my apologies. It was not my intention to 'hi-jack' the thread, that was already done. I was merely highlighting the fact that peonyrose's statement obviously has no merit, or why would she even ask the question.

She is not qualified to make that assessment based on her watching this one video, and making it sound like she is the authority on whether they are having a good time or not. However, she is more qualified on the subject of lemons! And when some 'twit' makes those kinds of statements against them, I am sure that Ógra appreciates someone pointing that out!

Elaborate.
do you not feel they are apart of Ireland?
They live in Ireland which I suppose makes them Irish.
It is your attitude that causes them fear when they think of United Ireland
I don't really care what Unionists/Loyalists think, to be honest.
they deserve to live with what they feel is their culture just as much as we do ours.
Loyalism has nothing to do with that.

ROFLMAO!! Well its kind of hard to avoid her. She's on every frickin thread. Her posts saturate the forum with her mindless prattle. She's kind of like the Britany Spears of IR.net. If she would stay home once in awhile, she wouldn't get her picture taken so often, now would she?
