Friends of Sinn Féin New Zealand reporting for duty.
We in Friends of Sinn Féin New Zealand are fully supportive of the strategies of the Sinn Féin negotiating team.
Our analysis is that the violence in the north in 1969 (and after, of course), especially the burning of Bombay Street, made a military response from the Republican Movement inevitable. It was also inevitable that the military response would also come to an end at some stage.
A matter that I have been meditating on is that I personally identified with the fight, but I also realised that, for the good of all the people of of Ireland I had to leave it behind.
If our revenge is to be the laughter of our children, I can hear giggling at the back of the classroom and...its getting louder.
God bless you all

Of course it does Mick....you should post some pictures of where you live, would love to see Uraguay. Not to be nosy, but were you born there of Irish descent or did you move there. I will post some when I figure out how :hmmm:
No, I have not a single drop of Irish blood in my veins and no, I've never lived in the "26" (though I'd love to!). Because of all this, the fact that I've always felt attached to the Green Isle has been the origin of many amusing theories ranging from past lives to possession and motive of surprise and jokes among family and friends. Just as an example, when I went there two years ago my friends gave me a nice t-shirt reading "Don't shoot: I'm Uruguayan" and overwhelmed me with mails promising me to bail me out of jail were I to be imprisoned for wearing my very-much-explicit-republican t-shirts. :icon_wink: The irony is...I teach english! :icon_laugh:
I'm going back next year, in January and February 'cause that's low season and cheaper for me -I told you I was a teacher, remember?- and this time I'm planning to visit everything from Vinegar Hill to Bodenstown. And of course, Beal na mBlath! If my first trip was all about celtic Eireann, this one will be all about political history.
Better start working overtime.... Euros and pounds.... seriously people, Eorupe is waaaay to expensive for humble teachers like me! :icon_cry::icon_cry:

Oh...I forgot...and to all unionists...Imigh sa diabhal and loscadh is dó ort.

mullerice here. Still trying to find my way around the site. I was nearly giving up over the weekend. There's a lot of "interesting"people on here. I thought I was a republican but now I realise I'm a back stabbing, lying, brit loving traitor! Help, I want my mammy. She never judged me like this!

It appears to me that in a lot of discussions, being a Sinn Fein supporter is very uncool. I happen to believe strongly that Gerry Adams, Martin McGuinness, and the current leadership have done more to advance the cause of freedom than their critics.

The Republicans who're critical of the Sinn Féin leadership simply aren't in any position of negotiating strength...they're not the ones who're negotiating with the British Government nor the 26 counties government.
People can argue all they like about what constitutes 'true Irish Republicanism' but its a pipe dream if you're not being listened to by those, outside of the party, who have the power to impact upon the situation in the six counties.
This reason alone is sufficient reason to support the Sinn Féin leadership.
Sinn Féin abu!
