Do the Americans realise Ireland didn't fight in WW2?

Most Americans think the USA fought the Soviets alongside the Germans.
Your question is really pushing it.

I would think the intelligent ones would know that Ireland was not involved, But as far as Irish volunteers... There was evidence of 3 Irish volunteers of the Wehrmacht during WWII, they have records of their names but are only 100% sure of one name. There were attempts made to use IRA agents to recruit an Irish unit from among British Army POWs was a similar failure(Wiki Fact)
I'm not sure about this fact but I heard that a U-Boat was actually docked in Dublin harbor during WWII for either a day or a couple hours ???

i know you don't. why say i'm stupid when you post bullsh*t about movies and TV shows? i was in america and most of them think we were their allies.
they don't even realise we're not in NATO. so i was just curious. our Taoiseach at the time Éamon de Valera signed the book of condolence on Adolf Hitler’s death, on May 2, 1945, and visited personally with the Nazi representative in Ireland, Dr Eduard Hempel. you can't say thats not a interesting topic. even if you don't care. sh*t, we even kept the German and Japanese embassys open during the war.

About as laughable as fighting "Arabs" in Afghanistan.
Do the Americans realise Ireland didn't fight in WW2?
Some Americans don't even know Ireland exist.
True story.
I was over in New jersey at the bus station waiting for my friend to pick me up. I was talking to some old black guy to pass some time. He asked me where I was from and I said "Ireland".. He asked me if I was Puerto Rican - I said no, "I'm Irish". He's like "Oh..." with a confused look on his face.
I said, it's in Europe. He was like "Oh up by Canada, yeah dude.. I've met alot of Canadians. Nice folk". At this point, the conversation was going nowhere.. So I just nodded and smiled "Yeah, I'm Canadian. How aboot that.."

You can't really blame people for thinking the Free State is a member of NATO, it basically is in all but name.

Well the Free State are members of Partnership for Peace (PfP) which is basically NATO -Lite
Ireland's neutrality is suspect anyway. Everytime they let an American plane refuel at Shannon, they are aiding to an illegal war. Ireland is NOT a neutral country.. It just doesn't partake in large scale wars due to a small scale army.

The Free State is not Neutral in any sense of the word. By joining NATO's Partnership for Peace that went out the window and as you rightly point out, they are facilitating the US carry out its war in Iraq and Afghanistan by allowing the use of Shannon Airport for re-fuelling and for its troops going to and from that conflict

The Irish as a Nation did not fight in World War 2, but many Irish people did, both in the British and American Army. You also had the IRA command (Government of Ireland) in talks with Germany to provide weapons and finance to help a military campaign against England. Frank Ryan also worked as an allie with the 3rd Reich to have weapons brought back to Ireland.

I love war stories!
Portugal was also neutral, but some say a little pro-allie. I've seen a picture of german sub docked near british destroyer on the Azores.
The best was a story about neutrality:
Since the Portuguese claimed the western part of Timor (Dutch colony), they didn't want to supply dutch forces fighting Japan, but also had an warlords uprising going on in the eastern part. Suddenly the Japanese came to eastern part, and the governor made an arangement that Japanese can pass freely but not interfere into internal conflict between timorian tribes and Portuguese. Australians also feared of Japanese invasion from Timor so they sent commandos to start guerilla warfare against Japs. One Australian soldier described it this way. They met with dutch soldiers (Dutch and Indonesians) and arranged a ambush in the jungle, but instead of Japanese soon came the Timoran tribe gangs and fought against Portuguese police and their allied tribes. Somehow they met with Japanese, and soon there were 4 different sides fighting in the forrest and avoiding eachother. Japanese and Allies fought eachother and Timorans and Portuguese had their own war.

Sad as it may be most Americans are at least semi retarted (I think the smother the babies a little bit at the hospital). Hell mothers over here raise thier kids based on what Dr.Phil says I have a neighbor that told me not to let her son know what WW2 is when he saw me watchin the history channel. Just take a look who we elect for president.
