TIME NEVER RIGHT FOR QUEEN VISIT
The continued pushing of a visit to Dublin by the Queen of England by politicians at all levels from the leader of Fianna Fail down is a mere distraction for the fact that the Stormont Assembly if now falling apart, a spokesman for RepublicanSinn Fein said today.
Des Long from Corbally in Limerick, the chairman of the Munster RSF Executive said that there are far more urgent and important items on the political agenda that need the attention of elected politicians. The building industry is in crisis, thousands of jobs are being lost, ordinary people on low wages are struggling for survival, the tribunals are exposing greed and corruption, yet the Fianna Fail leader busies himself about the Queen of England, he said.
The fact is the life and luxury of the Queen of England fails to impress the Irish people but her visit here is being promoted like some wonderful answer to all our civil and social problems. The reality is far different: the Queen is the head of the British Armed Services who still maintain and enforce the partition of our country. While some former Republicans may now take the Queen’s Shilling and enforce British rule in Ireland as Crown Ministers, the vast majority of the Irish people have no interest in this lady.
Any visit by the Queen will be opposed by true Republicans who are not fooled by all this political talk of a new stage in relations with England
