The book called "Ruairi O Bradaigh: The Life and Politics of an Irish Revolutionary" by Robert White is by far the best book I have ever read. It has history from the beggining of the Irish struggle in 1798 all the way to around 2005. It also describes the life of Ruairi O Bradaigh, one of the greatest Irish republicans of all time. A great read for really anybody.

I read the book and found it very interesting, there is alot in it I think it would be complemented by an academic work on the life of Daithi O'Conail I was reading the oration at this years commemorative event on Mr O'Conail in the Irish republican information service unfortunately it is snippets like these I have relied on, Are there any works on the man Im sure someone can inform me?
I find Mr O'Bradaighs life quite amazing and feel this book gives in itself a historical account of modern republicanism by depicting a man who has stayed loyal to the republic to this day.

I think Eason and Waterstone stocked the book when it was published. Initially Eason wasn't going to stock it at all, but following requests from members of the public they had it for a while. When they sold out they didn't stock the book again AFAIK. The two Eason shops closest to me were sold out before I had a chance to get one, and I had to acquire my copy in a branch about 140 miles away. I've been to my local shop a number of times since but have never seen it there.

Was glancing over this in the library today... the bit where he goes to meet mcguinness and adams in the run up to the ard comhairle mandated selection conventions for the 1982 26 county generals is disgraceful. He simply states that he will muscle people into aborting the conventions despite the decision to take part in the election by the ard comhairle. I'm not trying to stir **** I just was suprised I certainly wouldnt be a fan of Ó Brádaigh but I was really didnt expect that kind of behaviour.
