As a 2nd generation American ,who's is 1/2 Irish,I'm very deeply sympathetic to Irish sovereignty. However, given my profession I have to be careful.I'm hoping someone here can advise me how best someone from outside the Republic can help the Irish people.

Celtic,

Not sure how much knowledge you have about the Troubles and now the current political climate. I personally suggest you educate yourself on the various republican groups, then decide which organization best suits your ideas. There are members of each on this forum that can help you with this endeavor and also people that support each group in America that can help you become active within your own community. As for the POWs and sending money I would send a private message to Kat ( a member on this forum)and see if she can direst you with this, if this is indeed what you wish to do. She works hard at raising funds for the POWs and bringing their suitations to the forefront.

Why Little Hawk?? Are you part Native American?

Like Seabird said, you could research into which political party or entity best suits your feelings on the matter.

Sinn Fein have a "Friends of Sinn Fein" group setup - where people can help in whatever way they can, but not actually be a member of Sinn Fein. You can find out more information on http://www.sinnfein.ie/fosf/

I'd advise you to read over the forum and get an idea of the various shades of Irish Republicanism :) We all want the same goals of a Sovereign and free Irish nation on here, we just have different views on how it can be accomplished.

Seabird,

Thanks much for the advice. As to your question, yes in addition to being 1/2 Irish, I'm Cherokee/Creek, & Finnish.Guess you could say my ethnicity is pretty diverse.

Hi Celtic, I would simply suggest you get active in irish activities in your own area at first. Learn about, and more importantly enjoy, Irish culture and move from there.

If you are active already then the suggestions above are all good.
