Given the facts below;
1. That this is an Irish Republican Website.
2. The revival of our language is a goal of all republican groups mentioned on this forum
3. The failure of Dublin governments to develop an effective strategy to support the language
4. There is an ongoing campaign for an Irish language Act in the six counties
5. There are on gong attacks on that language by Unionist politicians due to its having no value.
6. The growth in children going to all Irish schools.
Given these facts, and others you may wish to mention, is it not time this forum was labeled bi-lingually?

Good idea wherenow. Did you happen to read the article in the Irish Times about all cigarette packages will now have the label warnings in english and irish? What an awesome move, fair play to the ones that fought this issue and WON! Every battle won brings us closer to our goal!

Aontaim leat.
I agree. At this time it is all about small victories leading to the big one. The more we hear and see irish being used ieveryday situations, the more we know that 800 years of foreign rule has not defeatd us.

I hit don't know for the simple reason you offered no alternetive to having the entire forum or hating the irish langauge...
I am all for reviving the irish langauge to the point where it becomes an completely primary language for this country, in the meantime this is a republican forum 1st and an irish language forum 2nd.
Irishrepublican.net it remains...

I think it is a very good idea. It may actually help us intermediate Irish learners to learn just a bit more Irish :) Unfortunately, I don't think that vBulletin currently has any Irish language packs that can be loaded into the forums. I took a look myself this morning and I did not see anything :(.
Perhaps we can start some sort of contribution to the vBulletin community where those of us who speak Irish can help translate vBulletin forum software so we, as well as others, can have Irish forum software! What do you all think of that? :)

i dont think that was his point i believe hes trying to find unique ways to bring gaelic little by little back into irish people lives. and hence this being IR.net it would be fitting to be somewhat bilingual.

I am not opposed to the irish language section nor even inclding irish threads(ps. any chance of a translation for us non-speakers)...renaming the forum is a differnt matter though

Ni mhaith linn an ainm a athu?
I don't think anybody wishes to change the name. It is simply to label the headings in English and Irish. Things like new post, links, search etc. The website address would stay the same, but on the forum it might also have the Irish Translation next to it.
Working on them right now wherenow.. If you notice any mistakes, message me.

You should put up a beta page in the Irish forum with all the terms you plan to use that people can look over.

that's grand...can I change my vote?
It is good to have our language here for 2 reasons - pride in the tongue and a sign of our republican ideals.
