SINN Fein last night confirmed that Raymond McCord will speak at the party’s annual conference later this month.
A party spokesman said Mr McCord – whose son also called Raymond was murdered by the UVF in November 1997 – would address the ard fheis on the issue of collusion.
Mr McCord senior has always maintained that his son’s murder was covered up to protect a police informer – since named as UVF Mount Vernon leader Mark Haddock.
His complaint to the former police ombudsman Nuala O’Loan prompted her report on Special Branch collusion with loyalists last year.
Mr McCord will address delegates at the conference on February 29.
“Raymond McCord junior’s murder, the campaign of his father and the ombudsman’s report into the circumstances surrounding the murder has helped lift part of the lid on this significant issue,” the spokesman said.
Good, I'm glad Mr. McCord is speaking and has communication opened up to SF. The more evidence of collusion to be exposed, the better!
