Whats the story with this happening all the time? Do admin or mods have any control to keep in on the thread topic?:whip:

Moved this to feedback. I think there is two things here you have to deal with. The first is deliberate attempts to derail threads which mods try to deal with as best as possible and the second is threads naturally evolving onto something else which happens in most cases and sometimes results in the best debate.
If we kept everything strictly on topic it would kill the level of debate in my opinion.

I understand what you mean and agree to an extent, however how a debate on socialist republicanism and it's relevance, evolves into does God exist, is weird, but it happened. And asking about political organisations policy on abortion evolves into is it ok to beat/hit pregnant drunk woman is also a bit strange.

I know what you mean but there is really not much that can be done without restricting the debate severely which will make the forum a worse place. I suggest putting republican socialism threads in the IRSP section as you will find that all the republican socialists on the board go there much more frequently than others and it should stay on topic there. Abortion threads because of the emotion will always go off on a tangent. I have seen it happening many many times. If you really want to know maybe start a thread in each of the party/organisations forums.

Also if you have any suggestions how we could improve this then fire away.

quirks a 100% right, as debates go on they evolve. as long as they stick to the basics ie something about socialism shouldnt turn into a debate about god or the PIRA working with the enemy, it should stay a debate about politics and its theorys. though that being said its hard to put into lines what constitutes being on topic other then the obvious ones, to incorporate a set system would be very difficult indeed.

in a perfect world all threads would stay on topic but as quirk says there are those who spend their time knocking them off course.
